Ask any NBA analyst where LeBron James will play next season, and you’ll likely get a list of the same four teams: Cavs, Lakers, 76ers, and Rockets.

Former NBA GM Billy King, however, believes another scenario could unfold.

“The one team, the dark horse – don’t put it past San Antonio to try to make a trade for LeBron and keep Kawhi there,” King said on Taz & The Moose. “I just know LeBron has unbelievable respect for Popovich, and I don’t think they’re just going to throw the towel in.”

Kawhi Leonard is reportedly unhappy in San Antonio, leading to speculation that the Spurs could trade him – potentially to the Lakers. Not so fast, King says. The Spurs may find a way to keep Leonard and trade for James.

“Don’t be shocked if you see them try to make a deal and get LeBron,” King said. “If Cleveland figures, ‘Hey, we’re not going to keep him, (let’s) take the best deal we can get for him.’”

With James, the Spurs would be instant title contenders, if not title favorites.

“If you put LeBron, Kawhi, and LaMarcus Aldridge (together),” King said, trailing off in awe. “I haven’t looked at their roster. I got to figure what they can come back with to do it. But don’t put it past them to try to figure out a way to do something there.”
