The Houston Texans entered the season fully expecting to contend for an AFC South title.

Then they started 0-3. Even worse, their average margin of defeat was 5.0 points.

But after beating the Colts 37-34 in Indy last weekend, Houston (1-3) is finally in the win column. The Texans will go for their second win this Sunday night against Dallas (2-2).

“It was a tough first month for those guys,” former Texans tight end Owen Daniels said on Taz & The Moose. “I know they didn’t expect it to go the way that it went, dropping three straight and kind of struggling those first three weeks. I’m just excited that they were able to go on the road up in Indy and get a win last week. I think that’s going to turn things around for them. I think the thing for them is you just can’t panic. You’ve got three-quarters of the season left in front of them. A lot can happen.”

Especially with Deshaun Watson behind center. The second-year quarterback has three consecutive 300-yard games and has thrown for 760 yards and four touchdowns over the last two weeks.

“I like Deshaun a lot,” Daniels said. “I think it would be really, really fun to play with him. I played with Matt Schaub, and I think he’s got pretty much all the records for the Texans. I’m sure at some point in Deshaun’s career he’ll surpass all that. Records are meant to be broken. But for a guy that can move around like that, create plays when things break down – which they kind of need from him at this point – he’s an exciting player. He’s someone that has the ability to run the ball, but he’s looking to get the ball downfield and get it to his guys. I would have loved to play with him for sure.”
